Performance, String Instrument, Light, 2024
YB51724 is a self-designed and fabricated sound-light instrument, created to generate dynamic, ever-evolving light patterns in response to the performer’s touch on its strings. The top section—a 8-string instrument—draws inspiration from the Chinese Guqin and Zhongruan, while the lower section, a light-emitting structure, is influenced by Thomas Wilfred's Lumia Art. This instrument redefines space through light, transforming the environment into an immersive "sidereal choreography" where beams and hues intertwine like celestial bodies against the vastness of universal space. It is part of the artist’s research about the soft ambiences-sound, light, time-of a space.
